    Molly's Cupcakes

Great variety of cupcakes every time. The cupcakes are moist and not overwhelmingly sweet. A wonderful place to hangout with multiple seating areas and games to play. The sprinkles bar is a big plus.

    Kingston Mines Chicago Blues

    10 reviews

The oldest blues club in Chicago, Kingston Mines also serves up some pretty decent barbecue. Blues bands are showcased seven nights a week, and the bar also has two stages. The crowd is a mix of music fans and DePaul students, since the latter get free admission with their student IDs. Kingston Mines is also open until 4 a.m., so ...

    Giordano's Pizzeria on Rush

    38 reviews

If you are visiting Chicago for vacation or just a weekend getaway, I highly recommend that you try "Chicago" deep dish pizza at least once during the visit. I haven't been to many pizzerias in Chicago, but Giordano's Pizzeria serves excellent deep dish pizza. The wait for a seat during lunch and dinner is proof of the restaurant's popularity and ...

    Portillo's

    43 reviews

It's kind of touristy, but if you like a good cheesesteak, the sandwich here with sweet peppers and mozzarella is pretty unreal. Get a lot of napkins.

    Sprinkles Cupcakes Chicago

    9 reviews

If I knew who invented the Cupcake ATM, I would find her and kiss her. You swipe your card, you scroll through all the varieties (ALL the varieties--there are a ton!) Sprinkles has that day, you pick your favorite, and it pops right out in a nice little box, ready for snacking while you walk, or to take back to ...

    Green Mill

If you are a poet or a poetry lover, you owe it to yourself to visit The Green Mill the next time you're in Chicago. Home of the Uptown Poetry Slam, a weekly event that got started in 1986, The Green Mill has seen many of Chicago's--and the world's--best poets on stage. Even if spoken word poetry isn't your thing, ...

    Smoque BBQ

    8 reviews

The first time I tried Smoque, I was unconvinced, but I'm so glad I gave them a second chance! Every time my boyfriend and I go here (which is kinda often, since it's just half a mile from our apartment), we stumble home rubbing our food-baby-bellies and groaning. My favorites: the St. Louis style ribs, the chicken, the brisket chili. ...

This Mindy's Hot Chocolate is the same as Hot Chocolate. Mindy is the name of the celebrity chef who opened the restaurant.

    Gino's East of Chicago

    26 reviews

You can argue until you're blue in the face and all the ice on Lake Michigan melts about which joint serves the truest and most authentic deep-dish Chicago-style pizza. Born and raised in Chicago, Gino's East is the place I keep coming back to. Pizzeria Uno and Due may have the tourist cachet, and Lou Malnati's and Paisano's are definitely ...

    Hot Doug's

    19 reviews

A Chicago institution, but it's going to be closing on October 3, 2014. Go there before it's gone! This corner hot dog shop owned by a die-hard Cubs fan takes hot dogs to the next gourmet level with wild game, berries, nuts, cheeses and all sorts of unexpectedly awesome flavor combinations. Don't be surprised to see a line outside and ...

    Buddy Guy's Legends

What's so great about Buddy Guy's is that even though it's near tourist hotels and sees its fair share of out-of-towners, the musicians on stage are the real deal. For authentic Chicago-style electric blues, this is always my top recommendation.

    The Cedar Hotel

    2 reviews

Great local bar where 20 somethings mingle with 30 somethings after work or before dinner. This place is always hopping with friends and groups of people laughing and having a good time. It is not really a hotel but rather a local hotspot/bar.

    The Boiler Room

    3 reviews

When you get tired of Chicago Style Pizza, the incredible thin crust pizza at Boiler Room will save you. At just a few bucks a slice, you won't go broke trying a few different varieties (but you can't go wrong with the pepperoni). There's a great beer list if a PBR and a shot of Jameson isn't your thing. Don't ...

    Hot Chocolate

    7 reviews

The chef and owner is a James Beard pastry chef 5 time nominated and 2012 award winning chef. Her cold cocoa drink with homemade marshmallow was to die for. She has a full service menu but honestly I never got pass the drinks. They're fabulous.

    Ipsento

    4 reviews

The signature drink at Ipsento, some crazy concoction of coconut and cayenne, is going to be the best thing that's happened to you in a long, long time. This coffee shop is cozy, quiet, and warm. I'm a fan of the reading series they host on Saturday nights as well.

    Argo Tea

I love the Dearborn location for the interior and friendly staff. If you've overdone it on the caffeine for the day and are looking for a caffeine free tea to try, have the hibiscus tea. Also there is free wifi at this location making it a nice stopover while in downtown Chicago!

Awesome breakfast/lunch spot. Open until 3pm. Great southern style cooking. And a full bar to pick your poison.

    El Cid

    2 reviews

You can't beat the value at El Cid, a Logan Square institution. I love the chimichanga (who doesn't love a deep fried burrito?) and the spicy salsa verde. Come when the weather's nice, ask to sit on the back patio, and order a margarita. You won't regret this, I swear.

    Next Door Cafe

    2 reviews

This is the first co-working space I've been to, and I loved it! I was here for a meeting, so we used one of the conference rooms in the back, but I will definitely return with my laptop to get some work done in the future. I love that many of the table tops and walls are whiteboards, so there's ...

    Giordano's Pizza

    28 reviews

I grew up in Chicago eating deep-dish pizza. I've tried every major pizza maker's goods in town, and Giordano's is always in my top two. The Rush St. location is my favorite, with graffitied booths, tables and walls. Just be prepared for the 45-minute wait for your pizza to be baked and delivered to your table.
