The Chicago Historical Museum was founded in 1856, a very historical year, politically speaking, because the Whig Party collapsed over the slavery issue (the fugitive slave act, et.al.) and Abraham Lincoln and other disenchanted Whigs founded the Republican Party in Ripon, Wisconsin. When you visit the Chicago Historical Museum, you will learn that Lincoln parlayed an appearance at the first ...

Some of the best French cuisine outside of the motherland. The meat and fish are succulent and simply buttery, and the French onion soup is easily the best I've ever had. Pricey, but worth it.

This is my alumni bar so I spend more time / money here than I should, but love the atmosphere, they take the roof off in the summer so it feels really Colorado lodge-y. Food is upscale bar food- the brisket sliders are my fav. seconded only by the massive vodka lemonades.

Shop local! We ventured in for a quick dessert. Their cheesecake has been shown on Chicago's Best, so we knew what we had to get. Since they don't sell cheesecake by the slice (which they should!), we ended up getting one of their mini cheesecakes ($6.25). It was creamy, but the crust was pretty thick. Not the best cheesecake I've ...

Alinea sits in a small two story building. Alinea does not advertise its presence openly. A valet and a small sandwich board stating Alinea are the only indications near a double door set back from the street. Upon opening the wide double doors, you enter a hallway that narrows to create a false sense of perspective. At the end of ...

Another one of Frank Sinatra’s favorite spots, Twin Anchors is largely known today for its tasty ribs and its cameo in The Dark Knight. Regardless of whether you’re eating or not, it’s still a great spot to enjoy a drink and the charming nautical theme. A secret escape door still remains in the southwest corner of the bar to this ...

My friend and I were on a road trip and we kind of (unfortunately) breezed right through Chicago because we had a deadline to meet getting home. One thing we definitely wanted while in town was deep-dish. We picked Pizano's on a concierge recommendation and we throughly enjoyed it. For some reason, after driving from South Dakota, we were overly ...

A favorite since childhood, CPOG makes unique pizza even by Chicago standards, baking the "pot pies" in a bowl and flipping the pizzas out tableside. It's saucy, cheesy, bready goodness, nothing like a traditional pizza but distinct and memorable. The owners remember your face -- there's no waitlist, only a wait. Sit at the bar to get seated more quickly.
