The South Loop Hotel seems to be in the middle of no where (by Chicago standards), but it's walking distance to the beach, Chinatown, and the Sox field. The State Street bus also goes right by, so you're minutes from downtown by public transit.
The building is new and expansive, with a gift shop, a restaurant, a bar, and a cafe on site. The decor is basic, subtle--lots of beige and white. Guestrooms are quite large, bright, and airy. All the bathrooms have Jacuzzi style tubs. This is a great option if you want a little room to stretch and don't mind being in a quiet neighborhood off the beaten path.Recommended for:

Walking into the sunny and spacious lobby of the South Loop Hotel, I was greeted by two handsome bellmen dressed in dapper suits and ties. They were extremely attentive and friendly.
Unlike many of the historic hotels in the city, the South Loop Hotel was built only four years ago and the modern, upscale atmosphere definitely reflects that. The beds looked like they had never even been slept in.
Referred to as "ridiculously large" by the bellman Ryan, the rooms were indeed very big, which made the plain white walls look especially bare. The lobby and adjoining restaurant/lounge had a lot more personality with jazz-inspired paintings and maroon walls. I also hear the karaoke gets pretty crazy on Friday nights!Recommended for:
