Iconic but offers little of tourist interest. Take a peek as you wonder down Michigan Avenue but don't expect overwhelming architecture or a spectacular educational experience.

Great history and stories surrounding the Water Tower especially during the Chicago Fire. Once blackened by ashes, the tower has been restored and anchors Michigan Avenue. Free and worth walking by.

What can I say? It's the oldest thing in town and the monument that everyone recognizes as saying quintessential Chicago. I do think that it looks best at night, just like the rest of Michigan Avenue.

Historical building that survived the great fire, the water tower is as much an icon of the Chicago as it is an important tourist stop today, the tourist information center on the magnificent mile today. This is a beautiful stone structure that still stands tall amidst its skycraper height neighbors after all these years.
