Everything is fine about this hotel, but nothing is special. It's very affordable considering its central Providencia location, and what you get for that price is about what you'd expect: a small, comfortable room and a standard, if a little musty, bathroom. Rooms included a TV, a lock-box and a mini-fridge. I never saw an elevator so if you get a room on the top floor, you may have the chance to develop some muscles. The concierge wasn't overly friendly when we arrived, but maybe we hit him on a bad day. A continental breakfast is served in a small dining room with plastic chairs, but the outdoor patio is nice – full of plants, shaded and quiet. The hotel seems very clean, but there aren't a lot of extras. If you're just looking for someplace to lay your head after a long day of wandering the city, you could definitely do worse.Recommended for:

Talk about an inexpensive hotel located in a kick butt neighborhood. Chilhotel is right in the heart of the Provedencia. Easy walking distance to great trendy eateries and excellent bars and nightlife. The hotel itself is nothing fancy and in no way can be compared to a Ritz Carlton. But if you are on a tight budget and are wanting to stay in one Santiago's most vibrant neighborhoods then you do not need to look any further than here.

I liked the little interior patio area. It was a pretty place to be able to eat breakfast in. The kitchen area is only available for staff use, though, and that was something which turned me off a little. Chilhotel wasn’t a large hotel and so having access to the kitchen makes a real difference, I think. Still, the staff were lovely and very helpful from the moment I arrived. I also saw that they treated their other guests with real care and attention. There was an old lady staying in the hotel when I was there and they were very careful to help her get around, carry her luggage and walk with her from one place to another as she was moving around. This created a really nice environment. It was also really warm inside, which is no small detail when spending the winter months in Santiago.Recommended for:
My experience of the Chilhotel started with the Homedepot style bench in the entry way, not good. I think you can be budget minded and still be creative. The actual layout of the building is fine but the current owners just don’t see its potential. It is a budget hotel with various prices averaging about 100 U.S.. The only staff member I saw seemed guarded and hurried. The carpet was musty but I am known for being overly sensitive to things like that. For me this is another hotel owner that is using his central location as an excuse for not caring. I think if you are always on the go and you are using your hotel as a place to keep your clothes then this budget hotel is worth it.
