Went here the other day with a few Beijing friends of mine. Was very happy with the service and the comfortable well decorated restaurant. Favorites included the Mushroom Tika, Mushroom Paneer and the jeera rice. Very pleasurable experience!

Bing Sheng is a wonderful Cantonese Restaurant that has multiple levels for different functions: private dining, group dining, dining in main area with everyone else, and a nice lounge. The service is great and the food fantastic! I really like how their menu has pictures of almost everything they have on offer making it actually even more difficult to decide ...

    Di Shui Dong

16/20; Food 8/10, Ambience 4/5, Service 4/5. Fabulous 'local tavern'-style with Hunan-led kitchen. Quite grungy (for a place also catering to the expat&tourist crowd that is), but this is part of the charm. Most of the staff don't speak anything other than Mandarin, but there's a menu with pictures and the staff do make an effort and are friendly. If ...

Just tried the new menu and there are some really delicious new items, it's mostly Japanese cuisine with a bit of a contemporary modern twist, very cali-japanese type rolls. Loved the fighting sushi roll and the chicken salad thing. Beautiful presentation as well.

If you've never had hot pot, you must experience it here. If you've had hot pot or the likes before and it was so-so, give it another chance at Haidilao. Hot pot is a fun experience for two or more people. While customer service in China takes the scenic route, you'll be pleased to find smiles and attentive service here. ...

    Made in China

If you are looking for high-end chinese food and are willing to pay for it, Made in China is a great bet. Located in the Grand Hyatt, the restaurant features an open kitchen in stark, modern atmosphere. The steamed dumplings and the green beans in black bean sauce are to die for.

    Baker & Spice

Ever in search of a decent pastry in Shanghai, I've stopped in Baker & Spice several times for a piece of carrot cake and a few hours of free wi-fi. Both the cake and internet access are excellent, however the Portman location tends to be pretty noisy, so it is not really the best place to get work done. I ...
