Always lots of people walking around; great spot for a photo! With that being said, it sucks getting through this area if you aren't a tourist since there's always people in your way.Recommended for:

You won't really understand San Francisco, until you walk through Chinatown. Visit the fortune cookie factory, stop for tea, eat dim sum, and watch the men playing chess in the park or practicing tai chi. It is a short walk from Union Square and yet a world away.

Maybe not as iconic as the Golden Gate Bridge and Lombard Street, but the gate to Chinatown on Grant is worth a visit if you're in the area. It's kind of a stark change from the brand clothing stores of the Financial District to the kitsch shops once you get past the gate.
