Nice but not sure it lives up to billing. Probably wouldn't have bothered but for trouble with the trains. Easy hub on metro. But it still has cultural cachet and might be fun to explore on a city break.

A very nice part of the city right in the center and next to the famous Christiana. Kind of a main central hub in the city center. Perhaps not as attractive for tourists though other than if you are trying to get around.

Mainly a residential area, Christianshavn is a fashionable, trendy and bohemian area of Copenhagen that is separated from the city center by the harbor. Many canals run through Christianshavn, and the town homes lining the streets are brightly colored and cozy.

    Lovely town quarter.
Old harbour houses and the channel is nearly everytime next to you.

    Ideal for a relaxed walk.

Beautiful Christianshavn. Great on a saturday. Walk around the nearby free-town of Christiania and finish with lunch from one of the great sandwich bars. Sit on the harbour and watch the guide tours sail by.

cool neighborhood, its a community, they have three rules: don't run, don't take pictures and have fun. Christiania now became the trendiest neighborhood of Copenhagen. Must visit.

Do not be in a hurry, cause this is a place where you just want to hang around, with a beer in your hand and sitting along a channel.
Of course Christiania is a must if you came this far. Hard to describe, it is simply an experience to enter that area.

Description

Walking the streets of Christianshavn is a remarkable experience, especially if you know the supports holding the island above water are thousands of wooden poles put in place in the 1600s. This man-made island was strategically positioned near Copenhagen in order to serve as a military encampment to fortify the city. Since then, Christianshavn has developed into a trendy little town, a far cry ... read more
from its militant beginnings. Enjoy the ancient buildings, the centuries-old squatter colony, and the numerous museums, parks and churches, many of them as old and unique as Christianshavn itself, that populate the island.
