Chungking Mansion itself is a fascinating place. It's the gathering place for South Asians and Africans. You'll find tailors, barbershops (separated by gender), food shops, electronics stands and the cheapest guesthouses in Hong Kong, right here in Chungking Mansion.
Be careful when lingering by the entrance though. You're guaranteed to be approached by several men with business cards and menus, trying to convince you to try their restaurant over all the others. If you show any indecision, they'll pester you until you choose them and you might even be able to get some sort of discount if you barter with them. But if that's not your style, just tell them you already have a reservation at The Delhi Club, and someone will take you right up. I've had some of the best Indian food here (and this is coming from someone who just spent three months in India!).Recommended for:

Chungking Mansion is a babel tower for broke travellers. Wong Kar Wai's movie "Chungking Express" got its name from this place. It has a reputation of being kind of safe but not really. I never dared to book a room there, but if you are (very) adventurous or desperately broke, it's gotto be an unforgettable experience.

It's hard to accurately describe Chungking Mansions. It's a housing block turned commercial building, home to a literal mishmash of cultures and nationalities, and the location of much of Hong Kong's budget accommodation. Chungking House is just one of the many hotels and guest houses in the building. While the hotel itself is decent and the rooms are a good deal for their price, the staff was rude and many will find its location inside Chung King Mansions off-putting. Touts wait at the entrance day and night attempting to aggressively sell drugs or counterfeit goods or to lure tourists into their shops, restaurants, tailors or hotels. Long waits for the elevators, upwards of 10 minutes sometimes, can be intolerably frustrating! Budget travelers may want to look elsewhere. On the positive side, the building is home to many great Indian restaurants and its location in TST couldn't be better.
