I am not hard to please. Stick to this simple date night plan and I will be more than happy :
3) Kissypooh ( if and only if your my lover boy)
I adore this little quaint theater located at Santana Row. You are likely to run into mature adorable couples rather than youngin. The best part about this theater is their seating. Always plenty of seating with space between you and the other person.
An applause should be given to this theater. No popcorn crumbs. No sticky icky floors. Always clean and well kept.
Now take me to the movies please!Recommended for:

It's a small theater at the end of Santana Row that plays more indie/Oscar bait-ish movies. I've seen some great films there. The old movie decor is also pretty cute. Be prepared to be on a parking witch hunt if you decide to go any time Santana Row is hopping.

This is one of the few places in the south bay where you can find Indie or perhaps Foreign or smaller run movies. There are cople of other places, like Camera 3 in downtown San Jose, and near Stanford in downtown Palo Alto, and that is about it. Most movie houses in the south bay are huge, corporate own megaplexes. Well, this one is too, but it is a brand designed specifically for smaller, more discerning movie-goers rather than the huge blockbuster mass appeal for 14 years olds flicks.
There is a CineArts in Pleasant HIll, and also in Mill Valley, with similar movie titles showing.
This one is run like a megaplex, but not quite as big. It has several screens, and will show blockbuster flicks, too, but the venue is smaller.

This is a great place to catch some really good inde films. All the other ones that come to mind are either far or really sketch looking. Grant it that it's a little steep, but it's a nice theater with really nice seats and what not.
No comment on the food - never tried but with all the restaurants outside, I can't imagine it being really that bad.
All that aside - coupled with Santana Row it's a nice place just to spend a day - get a movie, get a bite to eat, get some desert - coffee perhaps...wine if you have the time and maybe follow up with a cigar. Sounds like a nice Sunday to me?
