Can you walk by an eye-catching cover of your favourite interior design magazine without buying it? If the answer is no then you are in dangerous territory as you stand in front of the striking Citizen M hotel in Glasgow. You might just find yourself popping into the lobby decked out in Vitra furniture and making a reservation for the night just so that you can sleep in your very own Moonpad-controlled pod. You have been warned! Suffer from claustrophobia? Then you'd be advised to move on.
Form and function and a good night's sleep is at the top of the agenda for those lucky enough to be checking in.
In your not very big room, you'll find an XL King Size bed which you make up yourself. Next to the bed is the Moodpad: a control which regulates room temperature, controls the ambient lighting, wakes you up and opens the blinds. You'll also discover free Wi-Fi Internet access, Skype phone rates and an international plug system. Your tiny bathroom has a frosted glass divider which assures your privacy whilst taking a power shower.
Back downstairs in the Lobby, you'll find your living-room, yours to use as you please. Lie back and watch TV or make use of the free-of-charge bank of iMac computers in the open-plan office area.
Feeling hungry? Then there's a rather extensive canteen where you can purchase everything from Sushi to sausages and chips.
Whether you consider yourself to be a fashion icon or an international jetsetter or merely a local looking for a bed for the night, I think Citizen M has all bases covered.

This is one chic and very cool hotel.
My understanding of these new hotels are that the rooms are just for sleeping/showering in but they encourage you to socialise in their huge dining and living areas. And I must add, the living area is like sitting in your own living room.
The bedrooms even if slighty compact, have everything you need including an extra large king side bed. But the best feature of the room is the Moodpad. It’s great. You don’t need to leave your bed to control the tv, blinds, lighting, temperature and even the alarm (the latter is one I won’t be using!!).
The restaurant is all self-service and to a very high standard. The choices are huge ranging from sushi to sandwiches.
Round the corner from this is an area offering free use of the hotels Imac computers.
