    The George

0.22 mi from City Centre, Garden Apartment at Halfpenny Bridge

Dublin's premier gay bar and dance club-- at least, that's what I was told. From the outside, a stately old building-- definitely not out of place in historic downtown Dublin. I walked past it a couple times, actually, because the building just doesn't look like a club. Step inside, however, and the blinding light of fabulousness overwhelms. When the technicolor ...

Really pretty walking bridge right in the center of the city. It's an arched, white bridge, great for a beautiful walk across the river.

    Dublin Castle

So, why isn't the castle garden just another part of the castle? The city of Dublin was founded around and named after this very spot, actually. Dubh Linn (meaning "black pool") was the name of the lake that once occupied the spot of the castle gardens, back before the city grew into the metropolis it is today. Today, the gardens ...

This dramatic shape gives the appearance of a harp. Take the opportunity to visit Jeanie Johnson ship. It's only 5 minutes from the bridge.

It's rather undeniable that there is no such thing as a local in the Temple Bar area of Dublin. In fact, most Dublin locals will probably tell you there's no such thing as a Dubln local. True or false, I met a "Dublin local" on a train to Dublin and she brought me here, to The Quay's Bar. Located at ...

Incredibly touristy but somehow it still retains a bit of authenticity. The architecture is great in this area and it has a lot of atmosphere. You also have to admire the fact that so many people are somehow able to party until so late. A must-see but try to get off the main strip or get lost in the back ...

Pretty unique! I stopped a cop to ask what it was because it looked so different from anything I've seen before. He said the built it for the Millenium because they wanted to do something different. It's near the hotel where I am staying so the long silver point makes for a great reference.

Not only a post office but also an important landmark that played an important part in the 1916 uprising. The building still bears the scars of this.

For the Temple Bar area, this is actually a really large bar (it also houses a restaurant and hostel). I had the pleasure of seeing Tim Robbins perform here (it's a really small venue) and really have to recommend it to any bar-goer in Dublin. True, all bars in Dublin are relatively similar: they all serve beer, they all play ...

    The Church Bar & Restaurant

0.2 mi from City Centre, Garden Apartment at Halfpenny Bridge

The venue is memorable. An old church that was re-purposed as a restaurant/bar. So, you have the grand architecture and sweeping open spaces of an old Irish church while the layout creates intimate tables for patrons. The menu offered some outstanding items but also included some mediocre ones. Overall, well worth the trip.

    Moore Street Market

0.22 mi from City Centre, Garden Apartment at Halfpenny Bridge

The market on Moore Street is well worth the short detour from the attractions on O'Connell Street. They sell fruit and vegetables, flowers, fish, and black-market cigarettes. A point of etiquette: the vendors will yell at you if you try to choose your own fruit. Don't even try. If this bothers you, there's a Tesco up the way a bit.

Dame Lane has a spirit of bohemian Dublin scene, when I was living in Dublin I walked in front of the street every day and in the end of the day, when the lights come on I wanted to take a pic!

Great place to see an indie film. They often have film festivals highlighting different genres or countries. They also have a great cafe where you can pick up lunch or coffee before or after your film.
