Very cool building with a tall spire with William Penn overlooking the city. Climb up to the top of the spire and get a great view of nearby Philly.

This review is for the exterior of the building only. I was there on the wknd and was unable to have a tour of the inside. I love architecture and the exterior was captivating. Curves and dips, scrolls and faces - beautiful work of art.

If you love architecture, it's a must-see in Philly. Walk inside the passage and don't forget to go up the observation deck under the statue's feet. Best view of Philly ever!

One of the more aesthetically pleasing city halls in the US. The coolest part about this one is the statue of Benjamin Franklin atop the building.

City Hall shows off its classic French architecture and historical significance. They even shot the second Transformers here. You don't have to go inside to get a good view, the main walk ways go right through the center of the building. Tours are also offered if you want to get more than a glancing view of City Hall.

Description

From 1901 to 1908, Philadelphia City Hall was the tallest habitable building in the world. It still remains the world’s second-tallest masonry building after the Mole Antonelliana in Turin. Limestone, granite and marble were used to build this historic structure by Scottish-born architect John McArthur, Jr. from 1871 to 1901. The Second Empire style follows the popular French style of the mid-19th ... read more
century. The building’s construction is so solid that plans to demolish and relocate City Hall in the 1950s were halted, as demolition would’ve bankrupted the city.
