A bridge where you can see British engineering at its best, easily lasting through the years. You should definitely stop off around here to get a good look at it.

Isambard's creation is so integral to the city of Bristol. Still functioning and as elegant as ever, the locals are rightly proud of this site. There are tours from the guard gate on the Clifton side. Great to visit anytime of day or to see the twinkling lights in the evening. I recommend going to the adjacent park which contains the Victorian 'camera obscura' and the entrance to the caves, it has dramatic views and different angles of the bridge.

Brunels' masterpiece still stands the test of time. British engineering at its very best.

Description

For almost 150 years, the Clifton Suspension Bridge has spanned the beautiful Avon Gorge in Bristol. The beautiful suspension bridge is a feat of modern engineering and dutifully serves over 12000 commuters a day. The bridge, first commissioned in 1831, the bridge took more than 30 years to complete through perilous economic and political environments. Today, there is an information center at the beginning of the bridge to regale tourists and travelers with the history of the bridge's inception and construction. The center also offers books, gifts and souvenirs of all types.
