I've stayed at a number of Coast brand hotels in BC and you can always count on them for a comfortable stay at a reasonable price, but the Coast Coal Harbour really stood out. First off, it's a relatively new hotel and was opened just in time for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, so the color scheme is trendy, the building smells fresh, and the furniture and electronics are all of this decade -- there are even iPod docks. The facilities are modern and appealing like an indoor pool and, of course, free WiFi throughout the hotel. I also appreciated the hotel's status as a "zero waste property" which means they do everything they can to reduce waste and recycle - there are recycling AND composting bins in all the rooms. It's also one of the few hotels with fully accessible rooms and they have roll-in showers for guests in wheelchairs.
Overall, the Coast Coal Harbour is the kind of hotel that will please most travelers without breaking the budget. I saw all kinds of travelers staying from families to business travelers to youth groups, and they all seemed satisfied!Recommended for:

Really nice hotel with perfectly clean and new furnished rooms. Straight business design, but still welcoming. If you are lucky, you will get a room on a top floor with harbor view, which ist really fantastic. They have a nice restaurant "Prestons" and bar, breakfast gives you a choice of all sorts of things and is really delicious. Not really cheap, but well worth it. By the way, they have an outdoor pool, which is bit small but really nice.Recommended for:

The Coast Coal Harbour has a simple, fresh feel to it, which goes well with it’s location just a couple of blocks up from Harbour Green Park (my favourite spot in the city to lay on the grass and watch the seaplanes take off). The hotel is a little removed from the heart of the city, but it’s on the edge of the business district which makes it a nice, quiet place to be (it’s only a 5-10 minute walk to the Vancouver Art Gallery, Pacific Centre Mall, and Canada Line).
If you’re looking for a hotel that minimizes its impact on the environment, then this is your place. They’ve shown a real commitment to being environmentally friendly by introducing initiatives such as putting recycling and compost containers in each room, using biodegradable cleaning products, and heating water on demand. More hotels should follow suit.
There’s a small outdoor pool, although it’s more for swimming than lounging on the deck (it’s squeezed between office towers, so I can’t imagine much sunlight coming through). The guest rooms, however, felt bright and airy, and higher up rooms on the northwest corner have water views.Recommended for:

Coast hotels always tend to be a safe, clean bet when booking a casual getaway. The Coast Coal Harbour is no exception. The rooms are a bit generic but are new, fresh, and bright thanks to new building construction that sees large windows.
Entering from the almost subterranean entrance off of West Hastings, the first thing that was noticed were valets and desk clerks that seemed a little bored. The blue carpet, wood panelling, and aqua and sand-coloured painting definitely give it a west-coast feeling. I'm also always a fan when hotels locate their elevators out of sight from the front desk. This Coast has accomplished this through clever design so that the waiting areas don't feel like a hallway.
A cool little fact is that the hotel boasts environmentally-conscious options like large, refillable soap dispensers (standard mini bottles are also offered for the unconverted), in-room composting, and if corporate guests choose, net-zero conferences.
The hotel is a little difficult to find by car but if you head a little farther west in the same block from the Renaissance and Marriot on West Hastings, you'll find it.

Nice choice if your staying in town for business or a short stop. Nice, well appointed rooms with big windows and nice views. Many of the rooms have a nice view without an upgrade because the view is partially upstructed. Ask for one that ends in a 12 to take advantage of this.Recommended for:
