The Half Moon Bay Coastal trail stretches 6 miles along coastal San Mateo County, from Pillar Point Harbor to Poplar Ave. in Half Moon Bay. On sunny weekend days it can be crowded with strollers, trikes, bikes and walkers. If you plan to ride your bike, try early mornings, or foggy days. There are plenty of restrooms along the way in the state parks. Pack binoculars for chances to see whales during the spring and fall migrations. And there's always a chance you might see dolphins pressing through the waves. Going from north to south, park in the harbor lot. Right away you reach Surfer's Beach where you can watch beginning surfers show their stuff. Then head through Miramar for great views of the ocean waves. Farther south you pass through the state beaches, and finally Poplar beach.Recommended for:
