An obvious must see when in Rome. Pay the amount to go inside for a tour and learn more about the history. There will be tour guides around that will get you ahead of the line (for charge) but the line will be very long. One can always get amazing pictures outside.Recommended for:History Buffs

I learned a lot about this in Roman art so it was interesting to pick out all of the details such as the doric, ionic, and corinthian columns. It is amazing to think that it could hold up to 55,000 people.

One of the major sight see in Rome is the Colosseum where you will get impressed by the grandeur of the Romans, and this monument is living proof of their civilization. you can't but imagine the fight scenes and cheering crowd when visiting and thanks also to major blockbuster movies (like Gladiator) that were shot here.

Still commanding awestruck amazement from the crowd today, the Coloseum has seen much fanfare over the years. During the time of the Roman Empire, crowd gathered to watch the gladiators. Today, crowd gather to marvel at its gladiatoral constructions.

One of the ancient worlds greatest works still left standing. Tremendous amount of history here though most if it is not pretty. When I was there they were doing work on it so I couldn't see the interior. I hear the tours are very cool.

The Colosseum is pretty breathtaking. The scale of it, combined with the beauty of the architecture, makes you realize just how advanced the Romans were. Then you think about what they built it for, and it reminds you that they were pretty barbaric as well. Either way, don't skip it.
