Stuck for something to do on your Sunday in London? Head to Columbia Road Flower Market in the city’s East End, which is just the right balance of charmingly local and hipster cool. Each and every Sunday, the market is heaving with people regardless of the weather. You’ll hear lots of flower sellers shouting out their prices in cockney accents, and many local homos purchasing floral arrangements for their homes. There are also plenty of cafes and pubs along Columbia Road where you can put your feet up and enjoy a cuppa or a pint.

One of London's oldest continuously run markets, this is a perfect Sunday stroll, pick up some herbs or cut flowers before you stop for a pub lunch.

The Sunday flower market is a sea of flowers and sea of people in a very short stretch of the road. The narrow street is lined with flower stalls that sells fresh flowers to large plants. I am sure you can find whatever kind of flowers you fancy. Flower venders yelling out what they have for sale all over the place giving the market a very lively atmosphere. I haven't felt this rich for a long time, because you can get 20 stems of roses or a bunch of sun flower for a fiver. There are permanent shops on the street as well selling gardening tools, antiques and clothing. It is quite fun to browse through them after you got your fresh flowers. If you are hungry, there are a few local restaurants serving up coffee, pastry and hot breakfast just at the end of the market. This is a great way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday.

This is my favourite market in London. The vendors are all proper cockney blokes and the street is one of the nicest colourful ones in London. Be advised it is only open on Sundays until around 14:30, after that the stalls all disappear. The surrounding shops and cafes are all independent and different from what you can find in every other highstreet.

Sometimes after a heavy weekend, all I want is a good wholesome Sunday. Nothing meets my needs better than a walk along Columbia Road, buying flowers.. I'll usually get there via the book market on Goldsmiths Row, pop into the Hackney City Farm, then get myself a sausage sandwich from the hole in the wall.
I try to time it so I catch the traders closing for the day, when they sell off their flowers on the cheap - two bunches for £5. It;s always a squeeze, but if you can bear to wait for a seat, or sit at the bar, it's into The Royal Oak for a Bloody Mary.

Probably my favorite market. Only open Sundays. Love browsing through all the flowers. The shops are great to pop into as well. Check out Suck and Chew. They have great candies. Also Beddug is a cute vintage shop for clothing. Rob Ryan's paper cuts are fasinaing to see in person!
