Keep an eye out for the flags out front - otherwise, you might mistake the Comfort Hotel for an old apartment building. There is nothing distinguishing about this hotel, though because this includes the price, it may not be a bad thing!
With a simple brick exterior and not much in the way of decor in the rooms - think beige everywhere, the stylish (though somewhat out of place) front desk is a welcome shot of colour. Other than this, there is actually nothing else about this hotel - no pool, no fitness centre, no real lobby...there is a restaurant with a bar attached to the hotel at least.
That being said, if you are staying at the Comfort Inn, you are probably not that concerned with the frills and extras and are more concerned with cleanliness, basic services, and price. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful, the place was clean (but could really use some improvements to the decor and to some of the technology in the rooms), has decent sized rooms for a very reasonable price, and is located in a central area and convenient area. A great economy spot with the basics covered!

There's not much to the Comfort Hotel Downtown, which I suppose is kind of the point. The exterior of the building is rather ugly, but once inside, a sparse, yet modern lobby leads to an efficient front-desk, which directs me to an equally sparse room. The beds are firm, however, and the space is clean, although the beige washrooms are a little depressing and could definitely use some updating. However, with its central location between Yonge and Church Streets, just south of Bloor, this is a perfect budget option for visitors who want to be in the thick of it all without breaking the bank. It's within walking distance to the University of Toronto, Church Street Village, Yorkville and Yonge-Dundas Square, and countless food options are available nearby. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, several meeting spaces, and is next door to Masa Sushi, a decent Japanese restaurant.
