It’s pretty basic. But clean. The rooms are fine. Beds are comfy. Not much in terms of decorations so it feels very corporate. It’s located off the I-17 (which runs north and south in Phoenix) so it’s a good location to stop if you’re on business in the area or on a road trip passing through town and just want somewhere to lay your weary head. It’s very typical of any roadside hotel. Good price. In-room amenities include a hairdryer and fridge AND, this is important, it’s pet friendly! The fitness center is a nice perk and there is a restaurant. These chain hotels seem to offer complimentary breakfast, which is a treat. I wonder why the resorts don’t do this. Another thing the high dollar resorts commonly don’t offer anymore is a smoking room. This one does. If you’re in the area, this is a solid choice.

The Comfort Inn Phoenix isn’t the nicest hotel in the world, but as far as roadside residences goes, it’s a lot nicer than others I’ve seen. From the outside, the building looks quite small but walking inside I was slightly taken aback by the size of the reasonably spacious lobby. The rooms themselves are pretty simple: just a couple of beds and a (flat-screen) television. The decorations are rather muted; everything is a sort of beige tone, but that’s fine considering the garish floral designs of some other places. The room I saw felt a bit muggy – the air conditioner was off – which is sort of surprising considering the dry Phoenix climate. A good location: right next to the I-17 and the 101, so if you’re looking to get to other places in the valley quickly you don’t have to go very far. There’s a restaurant on site, and a pool, which was barred shut, not sure what that was about. All in all, a decent hotel.

For a budget hotel, comfort in has some solid amenities. The pool is large, no short of space to sunbath. I can't stand being shorted on food at hotels and was relieved to see a good sized breakfast area. The fitness room is basic, I am not much of a cardio guy so I passed on the treadmills but if you're into that, they have some good ones. Before entering the room I was expecting it to be cramped but my expectations were exceeded with size. They also have an in room fridge; in case you want to stack your own drinks or snacks back at the room, a big plus!
