I wouldn't go out of my way to stay at the Comfort Inn on 102nd, but it does have some redeeming qualities. First of all, the lady at the front desk was absolutely delightful and made us feel really welcome from the get go. The rooms are also a decent value, and they aren't too far from the airport (although calling this an "airport hotel" is a bit of a stretch). The rooms are very clean but basic, and come with fridges and microwaves, although there's nowhere within walking distance to buy groceries (unless you count the snacks you can pick up at the adjacent gas station as "groceries"). Breakfast is on the house, but you're on your own for other meals. One room even has a jacuzzi, which seems a bit out of place in what is essentially a budget hotel in a pretty crappy part of town, but to each his own. There's also a pool, an exercise room, and a computer for guest use in the lobby. Definitely don't stay here without a car as the transportation options in the area are somewhat limited and you're pretty far from anything interesting.

This is a good value moderately priced hotel in a busy neighborhood within easy reach of the airport and the Max light rail system. This would be an ideal base hotel to discover Portland while still being relatively close (between two to three miles away) from the airport. Had this hotel been in a better neighborhood the room rates would be competitively priced higher!
The rooms I saw, including one that included a whirlpool, were clean, modern, and really comfortable. The room includes a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and the normal amenities you find in most motels.
Included in the room rate is wifi, continental breakfast, use of the indoor pool, fitness room, spa, and business facilities.
One of the things that stood out for me at this hotel was the staff. They were courteous, professional, and its clear this is a very well run establishment.
So, if you like a modern relatively inexpensive Inn near the airport – and don’t mind a “rough” or depressed neighborhood around it - then I would give it try!

It can be a hard time to find a cheap hotel room in Portland during Memorial Day weekend. Particularly on Saturday of that weekend. Stayed at Comfort Inn & Suites for one night for under $50 a night after a coupon code on Hotwire before moving to a hotel downtown the next day.
I was concerned that the hotel location would be out of the way since I did not have a car. But the location was not a huge issue. The hotel is conveniently located about three blocks from the Parkrose/Sumner Transit Center MAX station. Make sure to take the Red Line as that is the only MAX train that serves this station. It is one stop from the Gateway station so if you need to change MAX trains, you can do so there.
From the station, you walk to your left on NE Sandy Blvd. You will need to cross two street lights. This hotel is next to Elmer's Restaurant and a Best Western hotel. If you are driving here, the location is great as it is just off I-205.
The hotel lobby area was under construction when I was there, so a temporary front desk was set up in front. In back of the front desk, there is a window visible into the pool and hot tub areas of the hotel.
Was given a room on the 3rd floor away from the street. There was no street noise to worry about, but there were trains that run through this area which you can hear at night.
The room is decorated nicely and has many amenities. Some of which were not offered at the supposedly better hotel that I stayed at the following night. It has a chair to relax in by the bed and the room has a microwave and fridge. There is also free Wi-Fi and cable television with HBO. Interesting things to note about the room include the water sink being separate from the bathroom and the free Wi-Fi name for the hotel not found under the name Comfort Inn. Look for the name matrix05 instead.
There is a free breakfast offered from 6-9 am daily. The breakfast here is not as good as the one that I had at a Best Western (not the one next door) in Portland that I stayed at a couple weeks back. The breakfast room was packed, so I had to scramble to get my meal. They do have hot items like eggs, sausage and biscuits with gravy in additional to continental breakfast items. There was nowhere to sit, so I ended up just taking my meal back up to the room.
Given the price I paid, I thought that my stay at Comfort Inn was good. It is a bit out of the way, but the MAX station is close by and there are a couple buses there as well to get you to downtown and around Portland fairly quickly.
