There's nothing glamorous about Comfort Suites, which is somewhat surprising with its Michigan Ave address and its proximity to the river, but I'd definitely recommend it for someone who's planning to spend a few days doing the tourist thing downtown. The suites are spacious, though the layouts are somewhat odd (in one room, the view from the bed is of the kitchen counter), and each one has a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. Rooms on the upper floors have great views of Michigan Ave, Millenium Park, and the river, but lower floors look out on a busy, but not too picturesque block.

The Comfort Suites hotel is in a pretty central location. That’s about it. It’s a small hotel located in a sorta-weird spot right on Michigan Ave., a small stretch that features trinket-stocked tourist shops and jewelry stores. You’ll be able to walk up and down Michigan Ave. with ease, and it’s still quite near the bars and restaurants located right across the river. However, I didn’t find the staff too helpful, and pretty much every other hotel in this area is nicer, if you’re concerned with that. One bonus is that you can access the pedway across the street, if you’re looking to walk around underground for a while and check out some cheaper food options.

I was really surprised to find out that this hotel was once DePaul University student housing. I wish I had such a wonderful view of Michigan Avenue, the Chicago River and the Wrigley/Tribune Towers when I was living in student housing at DePaul! The location is truly key with its prime spot right on Michigan Avenue next to the Chicago River. If you plan to spend a lot of time taking in the mainstream Chicago sights or shopping along the Magnificent Mile, this is the perfect place for you.
As they used to be apartments, all of the rooms have full kitchens and living spaces with separate bedrooms. The decor is very basic with tan curtains and duvets with pops of red in a chair or throw pillows, but it's nice in it's simplicity.

Comfort Suites – Riverview is pretty much the perfect St. Patrick’s Day hotel. They are located right next to the Chicago River, which is dyed green every St. Patty’s Day. The hotel is more of an extended –stay hotel so the rooms are more like apartments than hotel rooms. The rooms are fully equipped with a kitchen area with appliances, dishware, and glassware, though you might have to ask them for a wine opener because they have had one too many taken from them to keep restocking. Also the Emerald Loop, and Irish Pub and Grille, is located right next door. The staff is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. The hotel is also in-between a Chipotle Mexican Grille and a Corner Bakery so it will be easy to find low maintenance and cost-effective places to eat.

Comfort Suites keeps to the name by making everything about the hotel home like and comfortable. The kitchens are large, and make it really convenient to prepare meals and cook. There are even washers and dryers. The hotel seems to be in the middle of everything. I was only couple blocks from Millennium Park, Trader Joe’s, and a lot of great local restaurants. The Navy Pier was really close also. They have a nice breakfast spread in the morning with every food you could imagine eating in the morning. The rooms are nice, large, and obviously built for comfort. The view of Michigan Ave and the river was splendid, and I was distracted watching all the boats for a while. Everything was clean and usable. Comfort Suites is an exceptionally functional and charming Hotel!
