if you can get past the name, and let's be honest, you can, Coming Out is a solid place to sip your night away. Located just outside the Colosseum, Coming Out takes its name from the very act of exiting the storied monument. This Roman watering hole is all things to all people, serving up food from breakfast through supper, with karaoke and drag performances spicing up the moments in between. You have to try pretty hard to not enjoy yourself at Coming Out.Recommended for:

Coming out is the most visible gay bar in Rome. Right next to the Colloseo, it attracts a huge tourist crowd, though you'll find locals too. It's kind of surreal, like a gay club next to Vatican City. The drinks are cheap, the crowd is friendly, and the format really supports solo travelers. Because the actual bar is really, really tiny, bar-goers end up spilling out onto the street. On a busy Friday or Saturday night, you'll find hundreds of guys, young and old, hanging out on the street, sipping drinks, chatting, and getting rowdy. For a country that has such an interesting relationship with homosexuality, it's pretty neat that such an out-in-the-open place exists.Recommended for:

With one of the best night-time views of the Colosseum, Coming Out is a great gay bar but fun to hang out at for straight peeps as well. I had many a tipsy, fun night here when I lived in the Eternal City.Recommended for:

Coming Out is one of Rome's original gay bars, and it's a great place for their straight friends to hang out as well. Beautiful views of the Colosseum at night, good drinks, and fun people.Recommended for:

Hands down, our best gay bar experience in the middle of Italian august (a lot was closed). This is less of a gay "bar" and more of a gay "kiosk" because the tiny little venue spills out into the street to such a degree that the tiny little dance floor is left empty as revelers drink, mingle, and gawk--practically in the Colosseum's backyard.
Tons of tourists come here so you can use some of your English! And the people watching's pretty good too because most of the people are young. It's a little weird to see full grown, Italian gay couples wandering around together like we're all back in high school on the quad, but if my school had these views, this percentage of homos, cheap beer, and late night gelato vendors I would have had a much better time.Recommended for:
