If I could only pick one favorite among the newer additions to the downtown area, I would choose the Contemporary Jewish Museum. What was once a barren lot is now a beautiful structure with an elegant open area out front. Combined with Yerba Buena Gardens across the street, this one area has become one of my favorite places to relax in the city.
The museum itself is fascinating, though there are fewer things to see than some of the other museums in the city. It's mission of celebrating Jewish heritage is excellent, and I'm elated that this place now exists.

The stunning architecture consisting of the black cube set against the restored 1907 power station is almost worth the 4 Stars by itself. This is a beautiful museum and a joy to walk through and experience.
