One of my favorite restaurants in downtown Salt Lake. Copper Onion is popular with "foodie" types, but it is certainly accessible for the average patron. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding. This is the kind of place you can order a fancy plate of cheese with a paired wine, or you can get a "gourmet" burger and a beer. Other popular plates include meatloaf, cast iron chicken, duck breast, salmon, and a range of pasta dishes.
The servers here are usually young, good looking hip folks. The crowd has a wide range of visitors but you rarely see families here with children. More of an adult restaurant. Right next door is the Broadway Cinema, which is an excellent theater to see independent films. Have dinner and drinks at Copper Onion, then head next door for a quality film. Be prepared to spend $$$ at Copper Onion for dinner.

Voted one of the best restaurants in SLC 2011, we found this gem just a few blocks south east of Temple and on the ground floor of a large office building. Utah overall seems to have this half contemporary, half old wood miner meets ski shack decor everywhere we went and this place was no different. The food was very good. The Copper Onion burger is the signature lunch meal, but I opted for the Pastrami Copper Onion Burger. It was the special and it was amazing. I also had the Chicken Potato soup and that was mouth watering. Not as thick as a traditional potato soup and the capers sank to the bottom adding a new flavor burst half way through the dish. We had a reservation at 12:00pm and was sat right away.
