Heritage Site. The town is a photographers dream! I would suggest pre-booking your train as this is one of the most popular day trips from Madrid.

local artisan specialties (like conquistador swords, ceramics and damascene), tour ancient cathedrals and eat tapas al fresco at streetside cafes, all with the authentic ambiance of one of Spain's most historic cities. It's only a thirty-minute train ride from Madrid, but Toledo transports visitors to a completely different era.

Hi Corina! Toledo is a perfect day trip and there are high-speed trains that can get you there in 30 minutes! I believe they leave every half hour.

Book your train from Madrid's Atocha Station early in the AM. It gets really hot May-September so you want to get started early. It is the most popular day trip out of Madrid so if you are only going for the day make sure you book a return passage.
