An excellent restaurant specializing in traditional Hungarian dishes and wild game. When visiting Budapest, one must sample dishes such as stuffed cabbage. Kis Pipa Vendegio is the perfect place for a relaxed dinner that will give insight into the lives of the average Hungarian.

Really nice little restaurant/cafe. If you're sitting outside on a colder day theres blankets around the chairs to put round you, which is nice as it's a shame to miss out on fresh air. Some really nice Hungarian dishes. I had the beef stew (cheapest thing on the menu) and it filled me up nicely and tasted lush.Popular withFoodiesBudgetBackpackers

Karma Cafe and Restaurant. We ate here on several occasions, the food was good, service excellent, and the vibe and location first class. They also did an excellent choice of coffee and snacks at lunchtime. We particularly enjoyed sitting at the outside tables, which were provided with 'space heaters' and blankets for the chilly evenings. It was always very busy.Popular withLocalFoodies

This is clearly one of the top 5 or 6 restaurants in Budapest in terms of overall 'quality' of food. The syle is also unique as it's sort of a 'gourmet' take on some very traditional Hungarian dishes (e.g. Mangalica (type of pig) ears, pork cracklings). But it's all done VERY well and presented and served in sophisticated manner. Located ...Popular withBusinessLuxuryFoodies

This is an institution in Budapest, and one of the greatest and most traditional coffeehouses in Europe. The inside was gorgeous with chandelier and wood paneling. Most people come here for coffee and desserts. They also have a lovely cafe that serves proper meal. My friend and I had lunch there. They actually bring out a tiny jar of goose ...Popular withFoodiesLuxuryFamilies

Monday we had dinner at Spoon. I have to say, it was perfect. The menu is really diversified. The food and the service were excellent. Especially the view was taken with. You can see the Danube, the Buda Castle, the Chain Bridge, Fisherman’s Bastion. It’s like a special tour :) I definitely recommend this restaurant to others!Popular withFoodiesLuxuryFamilies

Need a coffee break? This is the Alexandra Cafe (aka Bookstore Cafe) at the Paris Gallery in Budapest. Grab an inexpensive macchiato and a slice of cake, and take in this view while you listen to live piano music. #yesthisisrealPopular withHistory

Had one of the best meals of my life here. Real Hungarian goulash (a soup, not a roux as you'll find elsewhere along the Danube), a crepe-like dessert with poppy seeds, and Tokaji Aszu wine. If you are in Hungary, you simply must try Tokaji Aszu. Louis XVI called it the "King of the Wines"

Excellent cafe in Pest, near the Market Hall. Classic, old-world looking place which was originally built in 1897, and then remodeled and reopened in 1999. If you want a Dobos Torte, this would be a good place to get one (with some coffee, of course).

Iguana has a great atmosphere, bustling and busy. The food is fantastic and served by cheerful and friendly waiters. We were able to get a table without a booking, but this was in February and not the busiest time of year in Budapest. The burritos were very good, as were the cocktails...Popular withFoodiesBusinessFamilies

Popular with the expat community since it's right around the American Embassy, Pomo D'Oro is a great place to go for some authentic Italian food. The atmosphere is elegant while still being comfortable, and you can come dressed up or down. I've only been here for lunch, but it does get quite busy from noon until 2. I went to Mokka Cafe & Restaurant in Budapest this summer while touring downtown Budapest with my family. It was truly a first-class dining experience. The steak was rare, as I requested, and the quality of the product was fantastic. One member of our party tried the lobster and she reported it was great as well. Very nice atmosphere with great traditional Hungarian dishes. Those who prefer to eat non-Hungarian dishes will be satisfied too as the restaurant offers a large variety of food. On Saturday evening there was also a pianist playing the piano with nice music. The staff was very friendly and professional, we enjoyed a lot. website: http://www.spinozahaz.hu/etterem.php?lang=en

Can I give Becketts six stars? Not only do they have good food, good drinks, friendly staff and reasonable prices, but their live music is amazing. One of their regular bands, "Smile," will bring you right back into the 90s (in a good way) with their nostalgic Oasis tributes and other classic songs. It's also a fun place to come ...Popular withNightlifeStudents

Bors is a soup and sandwich place run by some guys who used to work in fancy restaurants. The soups and sandwiches are creative and delicious. They also do house-made sodas which are great. I absolutely recommend this place if you're in Budapest! They speak English and will happily translate the menu for you. Service is great but there's not ...
