Great, intimate theater on Coronado. Every season they have several stand-out shows. My family goes every year for their special Festival of Christmas production, which features a new show with original music every year. Always a delight.

Rent a cruiser for the island - locals never drive during the summer. Especially good for the Fourth of July, do NOT get in your car! Rent a mountain bike for some local mountain biking (good rides out toward Cuyamaca; closest are in the canyon near Balboa Park) or rent a road bike and go down the Strand, around the ...

The City has great recreation facilities. 8 tennis courts on Glorietta Blvd, several are lit for night play; a new boathouse on Glorietta Bay rents kayaks, standup paddleboards, and rowing sculls (and has great lounge/rec room for teens); Community Center has fitness center with gorgeous Bay views, also climbing wall for kids, nice pool facilities with lap swim, classes, kids ...

This is a really great beach for children. Hardly any waves, a lot of sand ant not very crowded. It's a semi-long walk from the sidewalk near the street to the actual shore, it certainly makes it a unique beach! Lovely homes overlooking the water!

Nice sand, waves are ok, next to famous Hotel del Coronado, great views, but it's also next to military base so a lot of very cool but very loud planes. No kite flying.

Balboa Park is a great spot for families and dates! There are a number of museums (there's at least 1 with free admission, the others have a fee) and the gardens and fountains are beautiful. I love the intricate architecture of the outside of the buildings. This is a great spot to spend a few hours walking around and exploring ...

The Gaslamp is a crown jewel of "Thing's To Do" in San Diego that don't involve the outdoors. Restaurants, the baseball stadium, hotels and hostels, shopping from art galleries to boutiques, salons and spas, bars, clubs, and other nightlife + more! Do some research and choose from one of the fantastic restaurants in the area. Plan ahead or allow some ...

Whether or not you are a Padres fan is irrelevant. Petco Park is settled right in the heart of Downtown San Diego and is a great way to spend the evening with the kids. It can be relatively inexpensive too depending on the seats.

The guide was interesting and informative, and I would recommend this visit to anyone. The coolest post for me were the navy veterans everywhere, some who I'm sure we're just visiting themselves, telling stories to anyone who will attend still long enough to listen. What a cool piece of history.
