Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile

The Courtyard is a solid hotel. It's the standard fancy; not far off the Mag Mile, great restaurants and shopping nearby, easy enough access to the rest of the city. There's a great little fitness center with twenty four hour access, and the pool is open from 7-10. Wi-Fi access is completely free. Capital grill sits caddy corner, and if ...

Eataly just opened up in Chicago and is very similar to the one in New York. There are numerous stands, a Nutella bar, coffee bar, gelato bar, meat and cheese bar, etc. there are also some restaurants to dine at, though the wait can be long. I'd highly recommend going when Eataly opens to avoid the heavy crowds.

With a selection of carefully curated clothes from the world's top designers, Ikram has long been a magnet for chic shoppers and celebrities (the store is actually a favorite of the always impeccably-dressed Michelle Obama). Here's a real insider spot because you'll probably miss it if you don't know what you are looking for. For a strong drink, off Michigan Avenue, this friendly nook offers friendly service and well-priced cocktails. Mostly an older gay crowd. **Last I checked- cash only.

A bit too conservative but probably one of the better men's stores in Chicago. I prefer Barney's and the men's department and Nordstrom but worth looking here as well. Staff can be a bit big for their britches and are less friendly than in New York.

This is a decent store, but lately forever 21s quality of clothing they sell has drastically declined. They have some great prices (under $10 for leggings) but unfortunately they do not last more than one tumble in the washing machine. This place is a great place to go to if you need an outfit on the quick for cheap!

This beautiful space combines outdoor art installations with greenery and fantastic views of the Chicago skyline. An easy add-on to a visit to the Art Institute, Loop, or Grant Park. A great example of how this city has undergone a renaissance in the last 15 years.

The Art Institute of Chicago boasts one of the largest collection of Joseph Cornell boxes on the planet. Enough to be a gallery completely unto itself, even! When in Boystown, it's certainly important to do as the boys do, but sometimes it's necessary to create a quiet moment for yourself at a museum. And this one is a beauty!

The observation deck at the Sears Tower (Willis Tower) may get all of the attention but the John Hancock has the best views. The Hancock isn't the tallest but you'll be in a prime position to view the Sears and Lake Shore Drive.

This is one of the best ways to get a view of the Chicago skyline without being out on a boat. This pier has a little bit of everything... little shops and food stands to a theatre, live concerts and even dance lessons!
