Stepping back out to the streets of the city on a sunny day, it took a little while for my eyes to adjust from the low lighting throughout the Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Hotel. Everything in the hotel is in deep, warm colors like burgundy and maroon, giving off a darker ambiance. The rooms at least had some inflections of yellowish-gold to lighten it up a bit and I liked how they still had room for a small living area and office space.

Connected to the hotel, the Viand Bar and Kitchen also had the same darker atmosphere, but the food is delicious and they also provide room service to the hotel during certain hours.

The fitness center is a lot bigger than most that you find in the city and offers a nice view of some of the buildings around the Streeterville neighborhood.

This is a good Convention hotel choice when I'm in Chicago. It's just a short a walk to Michigan Avenue, good restaurants, the "L", and almost anywhere else, except the Convention Center (McCormick Place) itself. For that a longish bus ride to South Side Siberia is required.

In many ways, this is a classic Courtyard by Marriott property and remains a solid business trip choice. The rooms are safe, clean, and comfortable. Service is also prompt, efficient, and without the obvious Chicago immediate "hand out for a tip" expectation. At the same time, the energy and style of the Windy City permeates everything, including the chains. And I can't wait to come back.

The Courtyard is a solid hotel. It's the standard fancy; not far off the Mag Mile, great restaurants and shopping nearby, easy enough access to the rest of the city. There's a great little fitness center with twenty four hour access, and the pool is open from 7-10. Wi-Fi access is completely free. Capital grill sits caddy corner, and if you swing it, you can get a truly terrific steak there. The staff here is very professional. They know how to get you where you want to go, and they'll make you feel good about yourself while they get you there.

Clean, affordable, the staff is always accomodating. The location is central to most sites. We go to the Courtyard each time we visit Chicago.

This is the vanilla ice cream of hotels in this price range – comforting, no surprises but satisfying if what you want is a centrally located basic hotel room. It’s clean, has a big lounge-friendly lobby, a small bar with limited hours and an attached bistro with good value, somewhat creative sandwich fare. I looked at upgrading to a suite, but the size difference didn’t really warrant it – the second room was basically just a place for the foldout couch, which would have filled it up almost completely when in bed mode. The bathrooms were also on the small side. In this price range and general area, there are some boutique hotels that offer more style and amenities – like a manager’s reception and free Continental breakfast. But the Courtyard does have free WiFi and a nice gym and pool. If you are a Marriott Rewards member or are just looking for a well located, comfortable room, check it out.

This hotel is what I can only imagine IKEA had in mind when they started making furniture, lots of modern sharp-edged furniture here—very modern. The lobby is HUGE and welcoming with plenty of outlets to plug my iPhone into, which was perfect since the thing was drained from all the googleing I did while walking around the city. I had a really nice view of the city, there weren’t any tall buildings blocking the way and I could see most of Chicago. The beds were the best part, so soft and cozy! They said the hotel has just been renovated, and it showed.
