The Courtyard Marriot, nestled right next to its sister Springhill Suites on Scottsdale Road, offers all the features you’d expect from a modern hotel. As with most Scottsdale hotels, its architecture is done up in a sort of adobe-style, which blends well with the Arizona desert. Inside, it’s very clean, and colorful. I’m not sure if it was recently remodeled, but everything looks new, and fresh. The rooms themselves carry on this sensibility. For you audio/visual fans, the rooms come with a pretty sizable flatscreen television, and the clock doubles as an iPod dock, so you can play your own music, which I thought was a nice touch. The service is professional and personable. There’s a pool out back, along with some seating and fire pits so you can enjoy the outdoors in the heat or cold. All in all, very clean, modern, well maintained.

This property is surprisingly cool for a standard hotel in a cluster of three or four others. Love the color scheme – it makes the décor feel more upscale than it probably is. The ultra-modern lobby is equipped with a café, office center, mini-mart and huge flat screens updating you on the news and weather (not that you need that in sunny Arizona). Outside is a cozy firepit with lounge chairs and a decent-sized pool. The rooms are tastefully decorated with oversized beds and roomy bathrooms. The woman at the front desk could not have been any friendlier, and was excited to tell me about the free pass to Lifetime Fitness that comes with your stay to supplement the tiny gym on the premises. If staying on business, this is the place! Looking for an affordable family getaway spot? You can’t get much better than this.
