I have read a number of reviews for the Craigellachie Hotel on other sides that gave it a poor review due to the outdated look of this hotel. Ignore them. This place oozes pure old fashioned British charm, lots of tartan with a hunting lodge feel. If you want a true Scottish Highlands experience, this my friends is it. It can feel a bit like you are in an episode of Faulty Towers at times, but personally I think it only adds to the experience. So bring a sense of humor and adventure and you will love it.
The true star of this hotel though is the Whiskey room. Boasting over 700 different bottles this is a true scotch enthusiasts dream, as well as the perfect place to fall in love with scotch of you have never had it before. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely and the food fantastic, and there is a pub across the road as well if you are looking for something a bit cheaper.
The breakfast is divine, particularly the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon.
For those interested in a bit of hiking, this hotel sits directly on the Speyside Way (long distance hiking trail) so is a great place to stop along the way or to use as a base camp for venturing out on the trail!Recommended for:
