To really get a feel for the Irish and what they're passionate about (besides the Guinness), you should really visit Croke Park. Learn about the history of Gaelic football and hurling. Even get tickets to a match for the real experience.

Croke Park Stadium home to the two greatest Irish sports Hurling + Gaelic Football.
This stadium with an 82,300 capacity has been in use since 1884. Croker as it is affectionately called by the locals, also stages conferences and concerts. A museum detailing the history of the G.A.A - the Gaelic Athletic Assosiation, is also located on the grounds.

Description

Croke Park Stadium, or Croker as locals call it, opened a century ago and, thanks to a redevelopment program in the 1990s, is now the fourth largest stadium in Europe, seating some 82,000 people. The stadium is primarily used as the primary stadium and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association, and hosts Gaelic games, notably the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and the Senior Hurling Championship. It's also used as a concert venue or gathering place - in 2003 it was used for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Special Olympics, and in 2012, Pope Benedict gave an address to a full-house.
