The Taz at Gustavus dock
Been here
Point Adolphus is a top spot for seeing whales, and Tod seems to have a special talent for finding them as if he has built-in sonar.

If you have to choose between the all day Glacier Bay boat tour (which is excellent) and whale watching for a half day on the Taz, pick the Taz. You'll motor out to Point Adolphus which is a favorite humpback whale hangout. As I planned my trip and expressed my desire to see whales, everyone advised me that I must visit Point Adolphus. I suspect the Taz's captain, Tod Sebens has built-in sonar because he has an instinct for finding whales before anyone else seems to spot a spout. We saw many groups of humpbacks, but none were inspired to breach for us. But they still entertained us with what I call "whale ballet" as they gracefully slap their flukes solo or in unison (check out the pix). For details, visit: www.taz.gustavus.com
