Crowne Plaza Portland Downtown-Convention Center

1441 NE 2nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97232
5 reviews

Nice and clean hotel located near the Portland Convention Center. The hotel offers a free shuttle ride to and from the airport. You just need to call concierge to arrange it. I called them as soon as my flight landed in the evening and the shuttle arrived in about 15-20 minutes. Nice experience so far here.

    Wonder Ballroom

0.49 mi from Crowne Plaza Portland Downtown-Convention Center
    3 reviews

Rivaling both Crystal ballroom and the Roseland in size, Wonder ballroom is hands down the best large venue in Portland. Unlike the Roseland and the Crystal, the Wonder ballroom does not focus exclusively on mainstream acts. Instead, what you’ll find here is more indie and experimental bands that are much harder to see live. Every show will be one to ...

After my Son's Parent Teacher Conference, I drove over and took the Kid to the 3rd Floor of the OHSU Center for Health and Healing. This is the building down below from "Stratos", home of the OHSU Cloud Minders. It's at the foot of the tram and right next to the really cool ship building yard. The hardest thing about ...

0.39 mi from Crowne Plaza Portland Downtown-Convention Center
    2 reviews

The Convention Center is 3.5. It's just in a slightly awkward place, I mean it's pretty close to downtown, but really the river is what makes this place a 3.5 instead of a 5. Getting there can be a nightmare if you don't use public transportation.

I went on Sunday evening to see their famous Sinferno performance because I had heard it was quite good. On their website if says Sinferno starts at 9PM but when we arrived they informed us that the live bands start at 9PM but the stage show didn't start until 11PM which was a bit of a bummer because the trains ...

So you're in Downtown Portland at night and you have a hankering to see a real core Drag Show? Something that combines trashy, glam, moments of quiet beauty, and the chance to get wittily insulted by the hostess? This is true Eleganza Extravaganza. The place has a deep history after City Nightclub (RIP) and Darcelle XV (RIP, but I think ...

Been here many a time to watch metal bands close-up, but it's got queer DJ nights and DJ Gregarious still holds sway on Friday nights with an 80's dance mix. It's entrance is next to a gaming/hobby store on the industrial side of Grand and the Willamette. Fun and small venue with a great elevated balcony out back for when ...

    Skidmore Saturday Market

0.93 mi from Crowne Plaza Portland Downtown-Convention Center
    2 reviews

The Skidmore Saturday/Sunday Market seems to be the red headed step child to the flashier Portland counterpart on the other side of the fountain. Actually, I'm not too sure which Market the in-between Ankeny Arcade belongs as there's a clear cultural transition as you move towards the water. Just as they say that it's impossible to under dress in Portland, ...

Some serious elbow bending is done here. This windowless, free standing structure is designed to keep the chaos in and the temperance out. Drinks are strong and cheap, and the bartenders are down to earth and friendly. Two pool tables and a few video games provide low key distractions, and some booths provide comfort. Like all Portland bars, hot and ...

This place knows a lot about Leather and in all the right and non-kinky ways. You could almost also call this place a museum, with it's old classic ...

"Sure I go to school. Same as you. The Circuit Bouldering Gym NE

0.93 mi from Crowne Plaza Portland Downtown-Convention Center

Portland is such an active outdoorsy place, it's no surprise that locals love to go bouldering. An excellent, newer, enhanced version of the original bouldering Circuit Gym, which is based in the SW of Portland. There are more walls and problems to climb. Due to the new facility, it can get crowded so you might have to wait before you ...

When I go through places like this, I get tear up and I get mad. And it's a good thing to never forget. Great things do come in small packages, as confirmed by this low-key hole-in-the-wall bar. A chalkboard displays a wine selection that changes daily, though the gregarious owner, Amalie Roberts, professes a passion for rosés—10 are regularly available by the glass. While Paris was one source of inspiration, Kir also tips a hat to nearby Willamette Valley, stocking local crowd-pleasers like ...

Only open from 1990-1994, I was lucky enough to catch some spectaculars shows at this all-ages venue sitting where the Liberation Street Church now stands. From Hazel to Team Dresch to the beginning of Elliot Smith's solo sets, it apparently had the pulse on bands which were agitating for some sort of cultural currency. I wasn't aware of it, it ...
