My first thought upon walking up to the Cube Serviced Apartments was that I hoped the interior was nicer than the exterior. That’s because the hotel building is located down a somewhat deserted alleyway and is marked by only a small awning. While I wouldn’t say that I was overly impressed by what the hotel had to offer, it did turn out to be better than my initial impression. The rooms are pretty big and come with basic kitchen units. Everything seemed pretty clean except the sliding glass door onto our balcony was smudged and looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in a while. The room also lacked a bit of privacy I thought since the bathroom and bed were separated only by a thin frosted door. The building is made up of two towers accessible through different elevators meaning that if you want to use the gym and are staying in the other tower, you’ll have to go down to the lobby and then back up in the other elevator.Recommended for:

Despite its pretty dodgy entrance location on a pretty dodgy inner city back alley, it’s plenty pleasant for the location and price. The apartments have a decent kitchen and TV and their own decks for the smokers. The King deluxe room I stayed in could have done with a couch, the artwork is a little tacky, the gym is hard to get to and I hate it when the toilet is two metres from the bedside and separated by an opaque glass door. Those complaints aside, it really is a good spot, the location is quiet and the buffet breakfast and free wifi make it a great place to wake up in.

Cube Serviced Apartments is a good lodging option in Melbourne. Kind of hard to find though! You better have a cab driver who knows where he's going! Our apt. had a little kitchen and twin beds. It was perfect for our stay in the city.
