Award-winning, affordable Italian cuisine, nice wine, an upscale, modern ambiance and unparalleled service: what else do you need for a great night out in San Diego? Cucina Urbana specializes in revitalizing Italian classics with the use of fresh local produce and organic, sustainable ingredients. It's the perfect place for a family gathering or a romantic dinner for two.Recommended for:Foodies

Wow I am so impressed! One of the most phenomenal Italian restaurants I've ever been to! The garganelli and Brussels sprouts are my favorite, but every dish was phenomenal!

The food and drinks were delicious. Their foraged mushroom pizza was tasty and filling. The wait-staff were friendly and helpful, making recommendations, and it seemed that if I so much as glanced to find one she or he was already at my side.

Food is above average, but not spectacular compared with some of the many Italian restaurants in San Diego. My favorite dish is the bur ata in olive oil and garlic is a fantastic appetizer. However, if you're looking for a nice, quiet place for dinner, this is not it! It is quite a scene and can get pretty crowded.

Cucina Urbana is probably my favorite restaurant in San Diego. Located in Banker's Hill, it is close to all the popular areas, while still being enough out of the way that you don't feel quite so touristy. They change their menu all the time, and have options for both meat lovers and vegetarians. I love their woodfired pizzas, and I hear the shortrib pappardelle is to die for. Another must try is their assorted gelato and sorbet sampler- new flavors everytime!Recommended for:Vegetarian

My first time at Cucina Urbana happened during the coveted San Diego restaurant week, which is always the best excuse to eat like a Frenchie and indulge in a three course meal. Cucina is a well-known downtown establishment where reservations are highly suggested, and raving reviews are a notorious side-effect. A sort of Italian-fusion, gourmet, California chic meets hipster downtown cuisine (did I lose your there?), Cucina proved to be an awesome spot for a three course meal- but word on the street is that the truffle pizzas are an affordable and filling choice to share. Since it doubles as a retail wine seller, bottles are affordable prices so get ready to wine and dine!Recommended for:Trendsters
