If you're looking for a foreign city to call home, consider Cuenca Ecuador. With it's mild weather, gorgeous architecture, friendly people, clean water and low cost of living, it's no wonder that expats are flocking to this colonial gem in South America.

Description

As Ecuador's third largest city, Santa Ana de los Cuatro Ríos de Cuenca is perhaps best known for its colonial charm. Pleasant and beautiful, this World Heritage site is a gold mine of architectural delights. Explore it's many cobbled streets, courtyards, cathedrals and monasteries without the heavy crime, pollution and crowds associated with Ecuador's other large cities. Blessed with a comfortable Andean climate, the former Incan city of Tomebamba has born a reputation for splendor since long before the Spaniards ever set foot in South America. Come on January 6th for the "Mass of Children" fiesta or on November 3rd for the city's independence celebration. Tear yourself away from city center long enough to immerse yourself in the natural surroundings of El Cajas National Park and explore the Incan ruins at Ingapirca. Also home to the distinguished "Panama Hat", Cuenca's reservoir of gifted artisans are a holiday shoppers dream come true.
