    Awana Kancha Llama Farm

    6 reviews

Handfeed the alpacas! I really enjoyed the opportunity to see alpacas and llamas up close. The baby alpaca was the cutest one! The farm had all types of alpacas: vicuña, alpaca suri, and alpaca huacayo. The exhibit was small, but informative. We also learned about the dye and weaving process of textiles. There was a visitor center at the end ...

Cuzco is the jumping off point for the Inca Trail so most travellers to Peru will end up there. It's more than just a gateway - amazing Incan architecture right in the city and lots of cool places for travelers to explore and discover.

    The Inca Trail

    29 reviews

Don't be fooled. The Inca Trail is a serious hike. For good or bad, visitors are now forced to do the trail with a guide and it can be done in relative luxury. Even with porters, the altitude can be brutal. I was fortunate enough to do this one back when the trails were virtually empty. Unfortunately, it seems that ...

The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cuzco Peru
    34 reviews

Most of the tourist crowds huddle around Cuzco while waiting for their train or trekking party to depart for Machu Picchu. But you can see ancient Inca ruins, colorful mountain markets and epic Andean scenery just a short bus ride from the city. Rural towns dot the Sacred Valley, but my favorite excursion was to the Inca ruins at Moray, ...

Bustling with vendors and visitors in the square, four churches tower over them. It is incredible to see the heart of the Inca capital. There are many great restaurants nearby and alleys to discover with Inca stonework walls.

If I were to do my trip all over again, I would have spent a night in this quaint little town. Home to an Incan archaeological sight, the town has attractive cafes, lovely views of the valley, and just enough to keep you busy at a slow pace for a day or two. Tourists certainly stop here but it isn't ...

Also referred to as Sexy Woman, Sacsayhuaman used to be the fortress that protected Cuzco city from ancient settlers that came from the amazon jungle. Huayna Picchu

Well worth the effort to hike to the top. The views of Machu Picchu from the top are stunning and the extra work it takes to get to the top keeps many people away. Highly recommended.

Attractive cathedral. I like it as much for the backdrop and ambience that It creates than I do as a building / cultural sight. Must visit in Cusco.

    Mercado Central de San Pedro

    Tupac Amaru, Cusco, Peru
    7 reviews

Markets are already great on their own, but Cusco takes it to a whole new level. it might have something to do with their long history of domesticating corn and potatoes, which can explain the hundreds of varieties they have of each. Freshly butchered animals, grains you never knew existed, cheese, dyes - everything is here. There is a separate ...

    Andean Overland

    Calle Queshua 236, Cusco, Peru
    3 reviews

I trekked the Inca Trail with this local company and had a great time. The local guides were enthusiastic and had studied up on history and culture, which made the walk more educational and enlightening. The cooks and porters were also awesome, even when a few in our group got altitude sickness and lagged behind.

    Cuzco Trolley

    3 reviews

The Cuzco Trolley is an excellent way to see Cuzco and its surrounds. The trolley leaves the main square every hour at the hour from 10 in the morning to the evening (times vary depending on season). The price is very reasonable. There is also a map and audio guide available as the wooden trolley takes its passenger around the ...
