I'm planning a trip to St Barts and I am staying at Isle De France and I wanted to know if there are any places I can WALK to from the hotel. Incl bars and restaurants. And would I be able to WALK to Gustavia. Renting a car is NOT an option as I do not wish to drive in a place I am not familiar with and I also wish to party so drinking and driving is a NO GO. Thanks in advance for your help!

THis hotel is practically attached to the Hotel Ile de France, but other than the two hotels, there is not much on the Flamands side of the island and it's not my favorite beach and is usually not safe for swimming, so if you cannot rent a car, you really might want to consider staying in St. Jean, where there is plenty to do on foot. If you are new to St Barths and don't want to drive a great deal, you will probably be happier staying in St. Jean, or closer to Gustavia. If you are looking to stay in one place, you would do well to stay at one of the more isolated hotels, like le toiny or Guanahani, both of which provide the complete resort experience, so you can check-in and never leave until the day you fly home. I'm afraid you may have made your trip already, but if you are still planning to go, you might want to try to stay elsewhere, or you could probably hire a driver, if you're really afraid to drive on the island.

I'm not sure how reliable this information is (I found it on TripAdvisor) but for what it's worth here ya go:
'There is a very small, neighborhood grocery about 200 yards down the street from the hotel. Rather than going into Gustavia or some of the other over-priced stores around the island, buy your in-room incidentals there. It's got just about everything you need - other than an extensive wine rack. And, the prices are awesome!
Tip: Eden Rock restaurants aren't great, and are overpriced. Try the Strand.'.Comment.over 2 years ago. Report
