    City Tavern

Definitely a good place to go for drinks (and food) when you're downtown, either with friends or when you're out to make new ones. The seating area spills out into the street, and it's usually a hotspot of activity. Bring some friends!

    Mi Cocina

    3 reviews

We visited Dallas this weekend and went here on Saturday night and I was thoroughly impressed. This is my new favorite place in Dallas. They serve delicious Mexican food until Midnight, so it's the perfect place to hit before you go out. The atmosphere is really fun with fun, mexican club music and a modern feel. Most importantly: The Margaritas ...

    Bolsa

    6 reviews

Ever since hearing about GMOs and other not-so-nice things that are done to our food, I've sought out organic ingredients whenever possible. That makes it a bit tricky sometimes when dining out so when you find a spot like Bolsa, you feel like you've hit the jackpot. Their dishes are organic and primarily from local farms and the way in ...

    Oddfellows

Vegetarian friendly, locally-sourced food, clean lines, super expensive espresso machine (not super expensive espresso), and a great walk-friendly location. My favorites: egg white and veggie sausage skillet, fried green tomato BLT (minus the B, extra fried T), forest mushroom quinoa and veggie fajitas. The service is super smiley, even when they're slammed, and the space is open and clean. And ...

    IL Cane Rosso

    2 reviews

This is my favorite pizza place in all of Dallas, and Fort Worth for that matter. They started off as a food truck and later grew to several locations around the metroplex. They serve artisanal pizza made in a special wood-fired oven that was made in Italy. A lot of the ingredients come from Italy as well. My favorite pies ...

    Buzzbrews Kitchen

    2 reviews

The menu at this place defies logic. It has everything from Californian-styled breakfast to something that resembles sushi pizza. I couldn't even begin to explain how intricate some of these plates can be, and I can't wait to go back to try a new one each time. The waiter brought me the wrong order (once) and I didn't care one ...

    HG Sply Co.

    1 review

Using only food that comes from wildlife and natural farming (think paleo), HG Sply caters to meat eaters, vegans, veggies, gluten-freebies, and non-processed food nuts. If that's you, then get here. I've tried over one hundred hummus plates, and this one was actually different: bacon chips, cukes, cauliflower, red pepper, and jicama replaced the typical pita bread. Make your own ...

    Eatzi's Market & Bakery

This was one of the first spots I visited when I moved to Dallas because quality food is a top priority of mine. This is a small market that sells lots of ready-to-eat meals. Or you can grab made-to-order sandwiches which is what I typically do. What I love here is the wide selection of meats and cheeses from all ...

    Company Cafe

    2 reviews

This is a trendy and tasty place to grab a bite to eat. Brunch is particularly good, especially with copious mimosas. It's also a great place to do some people-watching because the hipsters mingle with the displaced uptowners and other assorted folks like myself. Don't just order your usual, though. You'd be surprised at what they can cook.

    Sykamore

A vegan Asian food joint with desserts. I really enjoyed the flavors in the Malaysian Basil fried rice and the Sam Bal Chicken. The soy chicken was even tasty to my meat eater friends. The green vegan cake was quite interesting to look at, and it really satisfied our sweet tooth with the right amount of sweet, almonds, and moistness.

    Nora Restaurant and Bar

    1 review

Dallas’s famous Greenville Ave has a lot of restaurants with a lot of rooftop decks, but Nora brings something different to the table: Afghan food and a special rooftop dining experience. When you get to the roof of Nora, you are greeted by bedroom-like stations for each party. There’s white linen floating around each group sitting along the ledge of ...

    La Madeleine

    2 reviews

I visited La Madeleine many times during my business trip to Dallas. Thank God for per diem, because I ate like a French monarch hiding away in Provence here. From their beef bourguignon to the delicious desserts, everything I've had was delicious. I highly recommend this place if you want a cozy place to get some fancier comfort foods.

    Cosmic Cafe

Cosmic Cafe is great both for its vegetarian fare and for creating community with events including yoga, meditation, dance, and poetry. Menu is heavily influenced by Indian food, but also includes some great veggie takes on Tex-Mex fare. Try the spinach enchiladas or, my fave, the bombay sage.

    Saint Ann Restaurant and Bar

#BeStuffed This 1927 schoolhouse-turned-dining hot spot opened late last year to great fanfare, having snagged the former chef from Abacus (another top restaurant in Dallas). The patio is beautiful, and the prices are very reasonable. BrokeGirlsGuide.com

    Mi Cocina

#BeStuffed #BeTipsy It would be foolish to visit Dallas without sampling the food at this Tex-Mex institution and sampling their frozen margaritas. You probably were unaware that the frozen margarita was in fact born in this very city! BrokeGirlsGuide.com
