For adventurous trip and love to play with wild crocs, then this is perfect place to visit for some fun and excitement in the middle of the sea.

Darwin is nice relaxed and good places to see but in the heat is yukky. Something I will never get used to.

Darwin is the jumping off point for many a national park in the area. Darwin itself is very much a touristy party town. Plenty of bars and places to eat and many tourist shops. A fun city with amazing surroundings.

Make sure you get to Darwin and specifically to Kakadu National Park. Darwin is a fun and interesting city, but the highlight is really the parks around it. The Kakadu National park has amazing walking tracks, very interesting old Aboriginal rock art sites and some great 4wd tracks. If you have time, I would head west towards The Kimberley's, which are one of the untraveled gems of Australia.

Party town for sure. Humidity can be pretty bad in the wet season.

Description

Founded by John Lort Stokes during his third voyage aboard the Beagle in 1839, it's only fitting that Darwin exist in the conditions it does to this day. To say the population makeup of this coastal paradise is eclectic is an understatement, as there are thriving populations of residents from some fifty nations across the globe. The Australian National Trust has gone as far as stating that the ... read more
unique population here has created a "multicultural icon of national significance." If Charles Darwin himself were still around, one has to imagine that he would appreciate diversity like this in a city touting his name. The city itself has a young and vibrant feel to it, and many of the 110,000 citizens are outdoor enthusiasts who take advantage of the area's great ocean and inland bounty. The attractions vary here as much as the census, as various cultural and natural attractions provide this little cosmopolitan haven with a huge list of possible things to do. One of Australia's most charming locales, Darwin is a great option to look into for a base from which to explore Northern Australia and the Indian Ocean.
