I just have mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand it is an amazing location, right next to the Mara river, which is full of a pod of about 50 hippos. They are right on the other side of a barrier fence, and so getting up close with them is quite impressive.

However, they are basically trying to sell themselves as a place to stay if you want to explore the the Masai Mara National Reserve, and they definitely are not. They are about 1.5 hours from the Gate, which means half day trips are not feasible, and full day trips must tack an extra 3 hours of driving on to them. A horrible idea. Further, they do tend to herd their guests a bit, and try and cater to large tour buses for meals, which are buffet style.

Overall, a fine place to stay either before or after the Mara, but not to access it. I would also recommend looking for discounted prices, as they definitely do not offer the value of their advertized prices.
