The drink menu is extensive at the taste does not disappoint. However, this place can get douchy when it is busy late at night. I recommend going shortly after they open for a good experience. Don't let the doorman outside intimidate you!

Hands down, the BEST bar in the East Village. The speakeasy vibe already ups its coolness factor several notches, but the combination of amazing food AND craft cocktails just blows all other bars away.
My best friend and I came here to celebrate my birthday and indeed it was one to remember. We scored seats at the bar where we were graciously tended to. The occasion called for one of their STRONG champagne cocktails, so we both started off with one. We left subsequent cocktails to the creativity of our mixologist.
And the food! The truffle mac 'n' cheese was To.Die.For. The pork belly was cooked perfectly, tender and crisp. For my birthday dessert, we shared a German chocolate cake which was divine.
All in all, a perfect place to celebrate with all the best NYC has to offer.

A tad tough to get into, but worth the wait. The staff is incredibly cool and friendly. The owner, David Kaplan (the first person I ever met from Wyoming), radiates visionary excellence. The drinks were perfectly balanced and the eclectic menu dares you to want to order everything on it.

Out of all the speakeasys I've been to in NYC, I still like Death & Co. the best even though it's not necessarily the most traditional speakeasy nor the quietest. The mixologists here know their stuff and the menu is also easy to navigate if you have a choice liquor.
The truffle mac n cheese & the punch bowls are two items that also stand out here but the drinks I've tried here have all been excellent. Part of the speakeasy experience I suppose is the wait, but it doesn't seem as crazy here compared to PDT around the corner.

Death and Co. is refuge for some seeking specialty cocktails of odd design and invention, but personally it's not my favorite. Pegu Club is a better bet for the oddball cocktail in my opinion. At the same time Death and Co. is still a good time, with an interesting scene and darker ambiance. Just don't go thinking it's the best at what it does in the city (see: aforementioned Pegu).

**MY FAVORITE BAR & LOUNGE IN NYC**
Yes, I found it.
My favorite bar and lounge in all of NYC.
*Sexy speakeasy vibe.
*Good looking patrons (you know who you are).
*Fantastic food menu.
My BFF and I celebrated her official birthday countdown here.
*LIVE FREE OR DIE - Champagne cocktail with bourbon, cherry liqueur, port, absinthe and champagne. EXCELLENT. We were buzzing off of one.
*CRISPY PORK BELLY - Wow, another great dish. Good flavor and not too greasy.
*TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE - Absolute heavenly bites. Truffle paradise with every spoonful.
*GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE - Another divine treat. Sweet, sticky, and moist. Oh yes, just like sex in shape of a cake.
Cocktails and food totaled around $100.
WILL RETURN AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

One of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. Amazing mixology is going down and if your palate needs to be tingled, this is definitely the place for you. The vibe is amazing, the staff is pretty great as well.
I even took a group of friends here for a birthday and they still talk about how great the drinks were here. Serious cocktails for serious cocktail drinkers.
