Fly into Miami or Fort Lauderdale, then head north for this more chilled-out, charming seaside town. Lined with tangles of sea grapes and mostly devoid of high-rise hotels, the beach here is one of Florida’s best (and the stomping ground of many a handsome board-toting kite surfer when the onshore winds cooperate). Swing by Joseph’s Wine Bar for tastings paired with Mediterranean food, and close out the night at the Blue Anchor Pub.
Where to Stay: The Seagate Hotel & Spa is the classiest address in town and just a few blocks from the beach. Two pools fill up with jet-setters and stylish weekenders, and locals turn up at the restaurant, the Atlantic Grille, for seafood and dancing on weekend nights.
