The Marriott City Center is set in the business district of downtown Denver. It's a high rise hotel that caters to the business community. The rooms are large, with all of the standard amenities. The views of the upper floors take in the mountains and the surrounding city.

The best thing about the Denver Marriott City Center is its location in the heart of downtown: 16th Street Mall is just 1.5 blocks away, there are great museums within a stone’s throw, high-end restaurants and bars nearby, and if you want to explore beyond downtown, several buses and trains (not to mention cabs and bike rentals) are right outside the door. The hotel itself is nice enough (it’s a Marriott after all) but nothing about it is particularly special. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed (though the rugs could use an update) and it has all the facilities you’d want on a typical getaway—pool, workout room, restaurant/bar, business center, parking. The hotel is almost too focused on being functional though—it’s missing heart. For me, it’s the sort of place I’d book if there’s a special rate. If there’s none, I’d look for a hotel with a few bells and whistles–and personality–to match the price.

Denver Marriott City Center is located in the heart of Denver. Walking distance to 16th St. Mall and Larimer Square. The hotel has a nice restaurant, bar and pool but unfortunately no spa.

There’s a large Starbucks attached to the lobby of the Mariott City Center. It’s spacious, welcoming, and familiar. But it’s still a Starbucks: good for coffee but not too memorable. That’s pretty much my take on the Marriott too. It’s perfectly comfortable, very well located...and totally forgettable. The building is a plain black tower, and the rooms and hallways are bland, though not disagreeably so. The rooms are decent sized, the bedding clean and comfortable, and the service polite and competent. In short, the Marriott promises no surprises, either good or bad. That's probably just fine for the business travellers and convention-goers who make up the majority of guests. There's a variety of eating options nearby, from quick-n-tasty burritos at Chipotle to upscale eats at TAG and Marco’s Osteria on Larimer Street to beer, grub, and live music at Appaloosa Grill on the 16th Street mall.

This is the perfect location for going to a convention in Denver because of its close proximity to the convention center. I personally always felt like Marriotts tended to be a little bit boring, and although this one wasn't intensely exciting, it felt a lot more luxurious, and well put together, than most of the Marriotts in the Bay Area.
The lobby has a warm and welcoming feel especially when the weather is nice outside since a great deal of natural light comes in, which is sometimes a challenge for some hotels. The bar is very relaxing and you really feel like you can hang out here right after a business meeting or in your pajamas just wanting to relax in the hotel.
I recommend it for business travel, I finally found the word! Boutique hotels are, of course, a little more spunky and has more character but this probably has a better business center in the end.
