      Hi Alex
Thanks again for the advice. Soon, I'm going to be planning or at least exploring the other regions I want to visit in Italy and I'd love to get your feedback on my itinerary then too.

Ever wonder what it was like to live in an underground Inquisition prison? Come to Narni. Walk through tiny cells and torture chambers, all housed under a Benedictine church where the monks were ... read more

You know how everyone wants to find the perfect Italian hill town that hasn't yet been discovered? That's Narni. When I first visited in 2003, the tourist office didn't even have a map for me (they ... read more

This three-week festival is filled with costumes, traditional crafts, games, neighborhood alliances and feasts to end all feasts. The rest of the year, go on a weekend when the Narni Sottaraneo is open to check out what it was like to live in an Inquisition prison (hint: not fun).

This is an easy day trip from Perugia.

Fall is the best time to go! Sept to late Oct, especially. I'd stay in Perugia 2-3 days and then rent a car (there's nowhere to park in Perugia, so you def don't want one there) and drive around Umbria. My favorite small towns are Todi (best gelato in the world), Spello, Castelluccio, Norcia, Narni and around Lake Trasimeno.

Alex- I'm going next Fall - and staying in Italy for 3 weeks. How long would you recommend I stay in Perugia?

Perugia doesn't have many good hotels (the best places to stay in Umbria are in the small towns or by renting a villa in the countryside). But for a city hotel that's well-priced and centrally ... read more

If you can, definitely stay in the city center when you're in Perugia. It's so much fun to wander around in the evenings.

Hi Diane! I've spent over a year in Umbria and love it more than anywhere in the world! Where are you going and when? I can recommend lots and lots of places.
