    W Washington DC

    W Washington DC

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    17 reviews

It's a hip place with a chill lobby that's good for people watching. Even the rooms are set up trendy. Definitely check out the rooftop bar, P.O.V. (Point of View Terrace); it overlooks the back of the White House, but even without that, it's a nice view of the city. If you're on a business trip, might not be a ...

    Omni Shoreham Hotel

    Omni Shoreham Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    8 reviews

This hotel is cavernous; it's easy to get lost. If you are rushing off to a convention or a fundraiser there, you might miss the glory of the place. The lobby is beautiful, and spectacular. There are banners remembering the many events and personalities that have come to the Shoreham -- from a Rudy Vallee performance to the Beatles to ...

The Liaison Capitol Hill, An Affinia Hotel

The Liaison Capitol Hill, An Affinia Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    8 reviews

The room is okay, but not terrific. Shampoo & other amenities are in tiny bottles and you cannot get product out. It took 7 minutes to get enough body lotion to do the whole body. Water was only lukewarm morning and evening. And there are very creepy photos in the hallway, suggesting a liaison between an older man (a political ...

    Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C.

    Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C.

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    8 reviews

Lovely hotel. A bit cookie cutter but still maintains some of the charm / Asian influences that MO is known for. F&B facilities are good. Weekend brunches are excellent. The major drawback to this property is the location. It isn't convenient and skews a bit dodgy. Don't plan to walk from the property. You'll probably need to take taxis.

    Tabard Inn

    Tabard Inn

    4.5
    7 reviews

If you're looking for a reasonable place to stay that does not resemble one of the soul-less chain hotels that dominate the downtown DC hotel scene, the Tabard Inn is a great option. Many of the rooms have shared bathrooms and none of the rooms have televisions. You won't need them as you're just steps away from Dupont Circle and ...

    Willard InterContinental Washington

    Willard InterContinental Washington

    Hotel Class:
    5
    6 reviews

This is, perhaps, the most storied hotel in Washington. It's only a block or two from the White House. Every U.S. President since the 1850's has been a guest or visitor there. The lobby is just beautiful. You almost feel as though you are carried back in time. When I was there, afternoon tea was being served. It felt quite ...

Hotel Helix - a Kimpton Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    4.5

Where was this place when my kids were little?! A separate bedroom for the kids with bunk beds and their own TV? I totally would have snapped that up. But you can still do it! Kiss the kiddies goodnight, shut their door, pop the cork on a bottle of wine and watch A GROWNUP show. Rates are almost twice as ...

    The Jefferson, Washington DC

    The Jefferson, Washington DC

    Hotel Class:

I wish I could give 99 stars to this place. Amazing restaurants, fantastic little rooms and cubbies to sit and work during the day, beautiful guest rooms (no room is the same as another) with scrumptious duvets and crisp sheets. There was a TV in the bathroom mirror....you know, since I need to check my stock prices while I'm brushing ...

Hotel Palomar Washington DC - a Kimpton Hotel

Hotel Palomar Washington DC - a Kimpton Hotel

    Hotel Class:
    4
    7 reviews

This Dupont Circle Kimpton hotel is about five years old, so the amenities are very new and modern. I stayed in a room on the 9th floor, and could even see the top of the Washington Monument from our window. The double room was HUGE - it could have fit another 2 queen beds and still have enough space for ...

    The Ritz-Carlton, Washington DC

    Hotel Class:
    4
    6 reviews

This is a nice hotel, obviously being a Ritz Carlton, but the rooms are ok. I suppose you could walk around to places, but it seems kind of far to walk. Depending on what you are looking for I may try another hotel that is closer to the landmarks.

We loved this hotel. It was a great price for the location in the city here a lot of hotels can be $50-$100 more. The lobby is a bit dated, but the room was totally new with great finishes. I will certainly stay there again, if I need a place in Washington.

    Marriott Residence Inn

    Marriott Residence Inn

    Hotel Class:

Talk about comfort with plenty of room to move around. The Residence Inn downtown is a great place to make a long stay (or a short one, though it may be more space than anyone needs for just a weekend). I felt like I was in an apartment rather than a hotel room, with a great kitchen area and spacious ...

Crowne Plaza Hotel The Hamilton-Washington DC

Crowne Plaza Hotel The Hamilton-Washington DC

    Hotel Class:
    4
    5 reviews

I felt luxury the second I walked into the lobby. This hotel is for the luxury traveler and business traveler with a great travel budget. The rooms are rather small and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to families with small children. The hotel has an executive floor for business travelers to unwind from the chaos of D.C. The restaurant 14K ...

    The Normandy Hotel

    Hotel Class:

I really liked the warmth and coziness of this place. Lots of couches and soft jazz music in the common areas. Pretty flower displays. The rooms aren't large but they are nicely decorated and up-to-date. That said, I'd rather hang out downstairs. There's a free wine hour most evenings. It's a great time to chat with other guests, some of ...

    Four Seasons

    Four Seasons

    Hotel Class:
    5
    4 reviews

The Four Seasons is really an amazing hotel! This is where a lot of the who's who of the political, entertainment and sports world stay when they are in DC. Just sitting in the lobby, depending on the parade can be worth a trip. The rooms are great, like any city hotel, they are big enough, but not huge. The ...

    Hyatt Regency Washington DC

    Hyatt Regency Washington DC

    Hotel Class:

There are a lot of folks with name tags and ear pieces in this neighborhood, because you can't get much closer to the U.S. Capitol. The hotel is a lobbyist mecca, with lots of political chatter. When I was there, the shoe shine stand was staying open late to accommodate visitors heading to the President's State of the Union address! ...

    The Hay-Adams

    The Hay-Adams

    Hotel Class:
    4.5
    4 reviews

At the Hay-Adams, rates are based on the view. You want to look at the White House in your pajamas? It's going to cost you. But it's worth it, at least once! The other views are St. John's Church (nice), Lafayette Square (too much like Haight-Ashbury for me) and (I swear) the alley. If you can do it, try to ...

I stayed here once years ago for a week with a friend for a conference. Even though we didn't use it much it was great to have the kitchenette in the room. Grand Hyatt Hotel

If you want to stay in a hotel that you never have to leave, this is the place. Restaurants, coffee bars, stores, and atms surround the soaring atrium. Oh, and there's a piano in the water in the lobby. The rooms are fine. I liked the good-sized desk. You don't have to go outside to get to a health club ...
