The Dorothy Chandler hosts the Los Angeles opera, and it's a decent enough building.
The best part is the taco stand in the plaza. That's a much better treat than the stuff they serve at performances.

The Dorothy Chandler is Gorgeous! We've been to quite a few ballets and operas here and enjoy ourselves every time. We've also attended a couple charity dinners here, the set up is just gorgeous - enormous, but stacked beautifully by multiple tiers, chandelier lighting and completely comfortable. If you live in LA and have never been here, what are you waiting on??? Perfect place to bring an out of town guest, date, afternoon or evening out with friends, family etc. Check out the music centers website http://www.musiccenter.o… for up to date info on all events taking place here. My son's school also had a field trip here - what a great place for children, and when I say children - I mean well behaved children, please do not bring your bratty chatty child to any event here and ruin it for others. If you do, purchase the most inexpensive nose bleed seats, very very far from me. Thank you! I tend to dress up a bit more when coming here, it's the least casual of the theaters down there.Recommended for:

The theater is wonderful. It's a beautiful historic building in downtown LA near the Mark Taper Auditorium. The parking off of Grand Ave is all underground, $9 pre-paid. You can also valet for $23. The parking attendants are very helpful. I do recommend coming at least an hour early to avoid traffic and chaos. The acoustics in this theater are amazing. Everyone needs to go see the opera at least once and this is one venue that should not be missed.

yeah, my sister works here too....actually her office is here but she has access to all the other buildings.....buhahahhahahahaa
the trouble I could get into with her badge...
dropped by her office and was introduced to her coworkers
m- hi there, I'm her brother, how are you doing?
h- good to finally meet you....you two look so much alike!
m- lol I never heard that before
h- yeah the resemblance is uncanny...
s- you should see the pictures of him and my dad....talk about clones!
the buildings are huge with tons of rooms, hall ways, auditoriums, side rooms etc etc. it's crazy....a lot of unused space when there isn't a performance...and I kept thinking of all the lil spots one could have sex in...damn, that would be hella cool.
come on...you know you were thinking it too!
she showed us another room the founders use before and after performances at this building. Seriously though...I keep thinking of that orgy scene from Eye Wide Shut.....yeah...I know. it was crazy and stuffy as hell...but very old school in a very Rat Pack era cool kind of way. I could get used to that. It was also cool that while running around that there was a symphony practice for some upcoming show. It was intense hearing it up close and personal...and casual. Everyone playing was just dressed like everyday people playing exceptional music. and I was there not trying to distract wearing my ink revealing wife beater, shorts, n flip flops.
Get this....when we took the elevator down stairs...this guy gets on and starts humming...I didn't think anything of it till I got a good look at him.
I wanted to ask him about the entire marrying your step daughter fiasco???
but that probably would have been bad form....
