The food here is great - I would give it 4-5 stars. I had a frittata with avocado, corn, jalepeno, and tomato which was amazing. They have fresh bread baked in house which was also great. Portions were huge. The downsides? An hour plus wait to get in on a Sunday (it was not that good) and some fairly inattentive service (no one asked if we wanted a refill on our coffee until we were done eating).

If the company is good, the wait for Dottie's isn't so bad. And there's always a line, even on weekdays. They offer a huge list of specials. Homemade toast and biscuits. Fresh squeezed juice. I ordered the Gruyère sweet potato tart and it was fantastic. Dottie's is one of the best brunch places I've been to.

I love going out for breakfast, and this may be my favorite place in SF to do that. They are no longer at the original location - they've moved to 28 6th Street, on the south side of Market now. When you come here, check the menu, but be extra sure to check for specials before you order.

A few weeks ago I was looking for an apartment in San Francisco. My mom and I decided to get some breakfast before we started looking at places. We ended up at Dottie's because of the great Yelp Reviews.
The service was great. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. We were quickly seated upon arrival, drinks were quickly refilled, and food came out quickly. Our server even brought us water without even asking.
The food was delicious. We ended up ordering....
Banana Walnut French Toast w/ Pure Maple Syrup -- Yum! I don't know why I never thought of this. It was essentially banana nut bread made into french toast.
Chipotle Ground Beef, Onion, Tomato, Corn, and Spinach Scramble -- My favorite dish of the meal. Seriously one of the best scrambles/omelettes EVER! Loved all the veggies, especially the corn. Didn't feel unhealthy!
Corn Bread with Jalapeño Jam -- Good. Unique and interesting. The jalapeño jam wasn't too spicy and had a sweet tangy taste.
Delicious breakfast with great service. I think the line can get really long, so try to get there early. Now that I live in the city I plan on visiting quite frequently.

I had a high expectation for this popular brunch place in SOMA. People were raving about this place in their reviews and waiting for a long time to get a table. I went there for the first time and waited about 40 minutes to get seated. The decor was really nice, but the food was not that great. Since it was after 2pm, I did not have their famous pancake but egg dish. My friend had zucchini cake and said it was good. Considering the wait to get a table in this place, I am not sure if I am going to go back any time soon.

I arrived at Dottie's around 8A and there was a short line I was right outside the door. I waited for about 15 minutes until an employee started asking how many in everyones party and my party of 1 :) was able to land a quick spot at the counter in front of the kitchen.
Great spot, was able to keep my eye on the head chef - who was cute and really had his act together pumping out orders left and right and had the staff on their toes.
I really liked this spot and will without a doubt return next time I'm in San Fran.
The staff was cute, sweet and provided great service.
I ordered the chocolate chip french toast with walnuts atop and crispy bacon. Good stuff!!! Their homemade raspberry jam was also really good.
I cabbed it here and walked back to my hotel after breakie and now, the location isn't all too fabulous - saw some unusual people around but walked briskly away and was in the clear within a couple of blocks.
When I left the line at around 915A on a Monday was wrapped completely around the block. Next time I go, I'll plan on arriving before they open, in hopes of being one of the first seated. If you have a smaller party and don't mind sitting at the counter, that may be less of a wait.
All in all I was extremely satisfied with the place and met the sweetest couple from Kansas City in line while waiting that had come and ate their a couple mornings before and spoke highly of their baked goods.
How can I forget one of the best parts - their Gay Cock picture hanging in the kitchen. I love my gays!!! Maybe that's why I loved Dottie's SO much. Hot gay friendly staff, you can't beat this place! and the food is delish!
